About this role
A Maintenance Mechanic role at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth serves the Bolingbrook, IL hospital campus on a full-time night-weekend schedule (11 pm–7 am, 8-hour shifts, 5 days/week).
### What you'll do
- Install, test, maintain, and repair mechanical machinery, equipment, and systems throughout the facility.
- Perform utility and structural repairs independently or in collaboration with internal and external trades.
- Inspect and test equipment for proper functioning and safety compliance; document all inspections and work performed per departmental and vendor requirements.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls in a timely manner to resolve urgent facility issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure task completion; requisition and manage parts inventory.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide on-the-job skills training to team members.
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent, OR 5+ years of relevant maintenance experience.
- Valid driver's license (required).
- Ability to interpret blueprints and work from sketches or verbal instructions.
- Physical capability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift 50 lbs or more.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office for task documentation.
- Skilled background in facilities or mechanical maintenance (preferred).
