About this role
AdventHealth Ocala is hiring a full-time Occupational Therapist (Acute Care) on a StaffFlex contract for day-shift coverage at its Ocala, Florida hospital.
### What you'll do
- Evaluate patients referred to occupational therapy within department time standards, applying diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Develop and modify individualized treatment plans with measurable goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team, including discharge planning.
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions including ADL training, neuromuscular and sensory reeducation, splinting, hand therapy, energy conservation, and functional mobility training.
- Document all patient care activities — evaluations, progress notes, and treatment records — in compliance with regulatory and third-party payer requirements.
- Educate patients and families on compensatory techniques, home safety, and skills needed for continued independence.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide mentorship to OT students, new staff, and certified occupational therapist assistants.
### What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required; Master's or Doctorate preferred.
- Active Occupational Therapist (OT) licensure required.
- 2+ years of clinical OT experience required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to float to other units and work weekends, holidays, and varied schedules as needed.
