A Consumer Access Specialist role at Texas Health Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Burleson, Texas, supporting patient registration, insurance verification, and revenue cycle functions in a hospital setting.
### What you'll do
- Register patients for all hospital services, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information to minimize duplicate medical records
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management staff on pre-authorization issues
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as required
- Generate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans
- Manage communication across clinical, ancillary, and consumer access departments to support a smooth patient experience
- Perform cashiering functions including cash collections and reconciliation, and provide PBX/switchboard coverage as needed
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 1+ year of customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred
- Basic to intermediate medical terminology and working knowledge of insurance benefits
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office programs
- Adherence to CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA regulations
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; CHAA or CRCR certification a plus
