About this role

AdventHealth seeks a mid-level Inpatient Coding Specialist to join its Health Information Management team at the Trickel Building in Maitland, Florida. ### What you'll do - Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, Present on Admission, and patient status codes across complex inpatient encounters - Query physicians to clarify diagnoses, complications, co-morbid conditions, and coding discrepancies - Review encounters for correct admission source, discharge disposition, operative physician assignment, and procedure dates - Apply Official Coding Guidelines and Coding Clinic guidance while balancing reimbursement with regulatory compliance - Use critical thinking to assess impact of coding decisions on mortality rates, clinical quality metrics, and key performance indicators ### What we're looking for - Minimum three years of inpatient hospital coding experience including cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, trauma, neonatology, and other tertiary-level services - Active credential: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC (one required) - Associate degree in Health Information Management or equivalent medical coding certification - Thorough knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodology, documentation guidelines, and encoder software - Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and clinical staff - Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a remote setting ### What's included - Pay range: $21.73–$40.42/hr (~$45,198–$84,074 annually) - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One - Paid time off from Day One - 403(b) retirement plan - Four weeks of fully paid parental leave - Career development and whole-person well-being resources ### About the practice AdventHealth is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system operating across multiple states with a mission centered on whole-person care.
