About this role

An HIM Specialist at AdventHealth supports medical record completion and compliance across two campuses — Hendersonville and Polk — in western North Carolina. ### What you'll do - Analyze ED, same-day surgery, observation, and inpatient encounters for documentation completeness by medical staff - Review patient records to verify all required documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards - Identify deficiencies or missing information and communicate with medical staff to resolve them - Ensure records are completed within specified timeframes - Maintain accurate and timely data entry into the medical records system - Uphold compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, corporate compliance, and other applicable healthcare regulations ### What we're looking for - High school diploma or equivalent required; background in healthcare, business administration, or legal studies preferred - 2+ years of experience in an office or hospital setting preferred - Prior experience handling patient health information and/or medical records strongly preferred - Strong computer literacy and independent critical-thinking skills - Effective written and verbal communication in English; additional languages a plus - Ability to commute to both Hendersonville and Polk locations; in-person attendance required for training and select meetings ### What's included - Pay range: $15.96–$25.53/hour (~$33,197–$53,102 annually) - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance from day one - Paid time off from day one - 403(b) retirement plan - 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave - Career development resources and whole-person well-being support ### About the practice AdventHealth is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system operating across multiple states with a mission centered on whole-person care.
