An Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-certified) position at AdventHealth, based remotely and supporting the Courtland Campus in Orlando, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Abstract and clinically code accurate patient data using cancer classification systems, staging manuals, and current national guidelines
- Track cancer patients longitudinally at required intervals to maintain follow-up and meet regulatory submission deadlines
- Identify and escalate clinical variability or documentation discrepancies to leadership for timely intervention
- Conduct independent validation of abstracted data prior to registry submission and participate in Quality Assurance peer review
- Utilize phone outreach, physician office contact, and written communication to obtain required follow-up information
- Identify reportable cancer registry candidates in compliance with federal, state, and national accrediting body standards
### What we're looking for
- Active Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification — required; only ODS-certified candidates will be considered
- Minimum 2 years of cancer registry abstraction experience
- Thorough knowledge of NCCN Guidelines, Commission on Cancer Quality Measures, and the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) Data Acquisition Manual
- Strong understanding of complex medical conditions and surgical procedures to support clinical judgment on cancer care quality and outcomes
- Associate's degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management (preferred)
- Experience with electronic medical records such as CRStar, Cerner, ARIA, or OncoEMR (preferred)

### About the practice
AdventHealth is a faith-based, not-for-profit health system operating across multiple states, with its Florida hub anchored at the Orlando campus on Courtland Street. The system maintains Commission on Cancer (CoC)-accredited cancer programs and serves a diverse patient population across a quaternary-care, multi-campus network. This role is 100% remote, Monday through Friday, day shift.
