About this role
A Certified Oncology Data Specialist joins AdventHealth Daytona Beach in Daytona Beach, Florida, supporting the cancer registry program at a Commission on Cancer-accredited facility.
### What you'll do
- Abstract and clinically code patient data using current cancer classification systems, staging manuals, and national guidelines including NCCN and FCDS standards.
- Track cancer patients longitudinally across the care continuum, obtaining follow-up information via phone, physician offices, and written communication to meet regulatory deadlines.
- Identify and escalate clinical variability or documentation discrepancies to leadership for timely resolution.
- Participate in Quality Assurance peer review as both reviewer and reviewee, correcting abstractions based on edits or additional information.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA patient confidentiality requirements and federal, state, and national accrediting body standards.
- Engage in special projects aimed at improving cancer quality measures and patient outcomes.
### What we're looking for
- Active Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification (required).
- Minimum 2 years of cancer registry abstraction experience (required).
- Associate degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management; Bachelor's preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Commission on Cancer Quality Measures, NCCN Guidelines, and the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) Data Acquisition Manual.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365; familiarity with EMR platforms such as CRStar, Cerner, ARIA, or OncoEMR preferred.
- Experience in a CoC-approved cancer program or multi-campus health system preferred.

- Pay range: $23.71–$44.09/hr ($49,316–$91,707 annualized).
