Practice Highlights
- Medical office setting within a large multi-specialty physician network covering 12 counties in South Texas
- Direct clinical support role working under physician direction — intake, vitals, history, medication reconciliation, visual acuity assessment, and chief complaint documentation
- Administers oral medications and performs intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections
- Performs venipuncture and both CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA-Waived laboratory testing
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians during medical treatments, exams, and procedures
- Coordinates specialist referrals, diagnostic testing appointments, and insurance pre-certification for ordered surgeries and tests
- Supports front-desk operations including phone management, appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and referral processing
- Responsible for instrument cleaning, sterilization, storage, exam room stocking, and medical supply inventory
- Documentation completed in the patient medical record per practice charting policy; HIPAA compliance required throughout
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR a current Medical Assistant certification, OR a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in a healthcare setting
- Current CPR certification required
- Formal Medical Assistant certification preferred (not required if experience or diploma pathway is met)
- Demonstrated comfort with clinical procedures: injections, venipuncture, CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA-Waived lab testing
- Familiarity with PPE protocols for blood-borne pathogen exposure, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances
