Academic Urology & Urogynecology of Arizona (AUUA) is recruiting a Board Certified or Board Eligible Urologist for a weekend-only inpatient hospitalist role across the greater Phoenix metropolitan area — the 5th largest city in the United States. Founded in 2008, AUUA is a regional destination practice for complex urologic and urogynecologic care, deploying Da Vinci robotic surgery, GreenLight laser, and advanced BPH and pelvic health technologies across a multi-hospital footprint. The schedule is purpose-built for physicians who want concentrated, high-acuity inpatient work with strong APP support and zero weekday obligation — making it an ideal primary or supplemental position for new graduates and experienced urologists alike.

Practice Highlights
- Inpatient-only urology hospitalist role; weekend coverage exclusively (Friday 1:00 p.m. – Monday 8:00 a.m.)
- Flexible shift commitment: minimum 8 weekend call shifts per year, up to 26 shifts per year available
- Coverage spans approximately 3–7 hospitals per weekend across the Phoenix metro area
- Each weekend supported by 1–2 APPs plus robust clinical staff; broader group includes 12+ Advanced Practice Providers across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Clinical responsibilities include inpatient rounding, post-operative patient management, inpatient urology consults, and urologic surgeries and procedures
- Large, collegial physician group: 8 urologists (Jeffrey Stern MD FACS, Aaron LaTowsky MD, David Kaplan MD, Chandan Kundavaram MD, John Mai MD, Amy Schlaifer MD, Joshua Jones MD, Oliver Ko MD) and 4 urogynecologists (Jennifer Klauschie MD, Keri Wong MD, Hemikaa Devikumar MD, Christina Rogers DO)
- Fellowship-trained specialists managing complex urologic and urogynecologic conditions including prostate cancer, vaginal prolapse, incontinence, BPH, and erectile dysfunction
- Technology platform includes Da Vinci robotic surgery (prostatectomy, nephrectomy, sacrocolpopexy), GreenLight laser, laparoscopic nephrectomy, Rezum, UroLift, ThermiVa, and advanced BPH/pelvic health therapies
- Established regional referral destination for prostate cancer, kidney cancer, pelvic floor disorders, and minimally invasive urologic surgery since 2008
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology (American Board of Urology)
- Completion of an accredited urology residency; fellowship training welcomed but not required
- Active Arizona medical license or eligibility to obtain
- New graduates and experienced physicians both considered; AMG and IMG candidates welcome
- Comfort with complex inpatient urology management, post-operative care, inpatient consults, and urologic surgical procedures
- Interest in contemporary, technology-forward urologic care in a high-volume, multi-hospital environment
