About the Community
Detroit is one of the most affordable major metros in the country, with a cost of living well below the national average — whether you prefer a renovated Midtown loft, a stately home in Grosse Pointe, or suburban acreage in Birmingham or Rochester Hills. The city offers a genuinely rich urban life: all four major professional sports franchises, the Detroit Institute of Arts, a James Beard-caliber restaurant scene anchored in Corktown, and the Eastern Market — the largest historic open-air market in the United States. Outdoor recreation is equally strong, with the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle Park, and the broader Great Lakes region providing year-round options from summer kayaking to winter cross-country skiing. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport connects nonstop to virtually every major U.S. hub and select international destinations, making travel effortless.
