This non-exempt role centers on the assessment, follow-up, and ongoing management of adult and geriatric patients with implanted cardiac devices in a collaborative, ambulatory cardiology setting. Practice Highlights
- Outpatient cardiology device clinic serving adult and geriatric patients with implanted cardiac devices (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices)
- Responsible for assessment, reassessment, and structured follow-up of device clinic patients across the full implanted device spectrum
- Maintains and updates a current patient database for the device clinic population
- Performs device testing and documentation including A-V and V-V echo optimizations and support for clinical trials
- Triages inbound phone calls from device patients and assists with device clinic scheduling
- Collaborates directly with physicians and other healthcare providers to adjust and implement individualized plans of care
- Provides patient education and connects patients with additional resources including ICD support groups and health fairs
- Working knowledge of billing and reimbursement as it applies to implanted cardiac devices
- Part of DMC Medical Group, a broad network of primary and specialty care providers integrated with the Detroit Medical Center — one of the region's premier academic health systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; completion of nursing school or accreditation from ATI or Prep MD required
- Completion of an EKG and Arrhythmia Interpretation course required
- Certification from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) for competency in Cardio Rhythm Device Therapy for Allied Health required
- Minimum six months of EKG experience preferred
- Working knowledge of patient care methods, procedures, and techniques relevant to cardiac device management
- Proof of vaccination or approved religious/medical exemption required prior to start date per applicable federal, state, or local law; unvaccinated employees with approved exemptions are subject to regular testing
