About the Community

Detroit is a city in confident reinvention — offering the cultural weight of a major metro at a cost of living well below the national average, a combination that is increasingly rare. Housing options range from renovated Midtown lofts to stately homes in Grosse Pointe and the charming suburbs of Birmingham and Rochester Hills, all at prices that stretch a physician's income further than most comparable markets. The city delivers on every lifestyle front: all four major professional sports, the Detroit Institute of Arts, a James Beard-caliber restaurant scene anchored in Corktown, and the Eastern Market — the largest historic open-air market in the country. Outdoor recreation is abundant year-round along the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle Park, and the broader Great Lakes region, while Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport provides nonstop access to virtually every major U.S. hub and select international destinations.
