Valley Baptist Health System in Brownsville, Texas is recruiting a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to deliver full-scope midwifery care across the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn continuum. Practice Highlights

  • Full-scope midwifery practice spanning antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patient care
  • Performs comprehensive physical examinations incorporating biological, social, and psychological assessment components
  • Independent authority to diagnose, treat, and develop individualized care plans within CNM scope; refers to physicians and outside agencies as clinically indicated
  • Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory studies and other diagnostic procedures as part of ongoing health management
  • Prescribes and orders medications within scope of practice and applicable state regulations
  • Provides consultative direction to nursing staff, laboratory personnel, and clinic assistants
  • Participates in patient review conferences, staffing discussions, utilization review, quality assurance, program evaluation, infection control, and safety committee activities
  • Conducts health teaching and counseling during clinical encounters to support informed patient decision-making
  • Augments attending physician capacity within a collaborative, team-based care model
  • Documentation completed in accordance with system policy; all patient care activities recorded per established standards

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ACNM-accredited school of nurse-midwifery required
  • Current ACNM certification required
  • Active Texas CNM license or eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of Texas required
  • Additional certifications as required by the governing board and in accordance with Valley Baptist Health System Medical Staff Bylaws
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the full antepartum-to-postpartum scope of midwifery practice, including diagnostic procedures, lab interpretation, and medication management
