Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
  • No minimum experience required; two or more years in acute care and previous clinical nursing experience preferred
  • Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire (ARC or AHA); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into the L&D role
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into L&D (also required for any nurse floated into the unit)
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Level 2 Nursery) certification required — proof of prior completion accepted, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire; renewal not required
  • All certifications above should be completed before the end of the orientation period
