Qualifications
- Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; associate-prepared RNs considered
- Minimum two years of acute care nursing experience preferred; prior OB or L&D experience a strong asset
- Active BLS (ARC or AHA Healthcare Provider) required on hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days if not already AHA-certified
- AHA ACLS required within 60 days of hire or transfer into the L&D role; completion before end of orientation period is expected
- AHA NRP required within 60 days of hire or transfer into L&D or any float assignment into L&D; completion before end of orientation is expected
- Fetal Monitoring — Novice RNs must complete GNOSIS Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring within 30 days of hire and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring within 8 months of L&D orientation; experienced L&D RNs (more than one year of L&D experience) must hold AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring on hire or obtain it within 90 days
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification (Level 2 Nursery) — proof of prior completion accepted, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer; renewal not required
- AHA PALS required within 60 days for any nurse assigned to the Pediatrics unit
