Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active RN licensure in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain)
- Two years of acute care nursing experience preferred; prior clinical L&D experience strongly valued
- Active Healthcare Provider BLS (ARC or AHA) required at hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required within 60 days of hire
- AHA ACLS required within 60 days of hire or transfer into the L&D role; completion before end of orientation period is expected
- AHA NRP required within 60 days of hire or transfer into L&D (also required for any nurse floating into the unit); completion before end of orientation period is expected
- Fetal Monitoring — Novice RNs (<1 year L&D experience): GNOSIS Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring within 30 days of hire; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring within 8 months of L&D orientation
- Fetal Monitoring — Experienced L&D RNs (>1 year experience): AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring required at hire or within the first 90 days
- S.T.A.B.L.E. certification (Level 2 Nursery): proof of prior completion accepted, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer; renewal not required
