Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Active Texas State Registered Nurse license required at time of hire
  • Minimum experience: none required; two years of acute care or previous clinical nursing experience preferred
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) — active healthcare provider certification required on hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role, ideally before end of orientation
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) — must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role, ideally before end of orientation
  • Fetal Heart Monitoring — tiered pathway based on experience level:
    • Novice / New to L&D: Basic FM within 30 days of hire; AWHONN Intermediate FM within 9 months; AWHONN Advanced FM within 9 months of Intermediate FM completion
    • Experienced L&D RN: Evidence of AWHONN Intermediate FM within the past 2 years required on hire (or completion within 6 months if lapsed); AWHONN Advanced FM within 9 months of Intermediate FM completion or hire, depending on prior completion date
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. — proof of prior completion required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer into unit
