About this role
AdventHealth Ottawa is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Med/Surg unit on night shift at its hospital in Ottawa, Kansas.
### What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, and developmental health status.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, treatments, and preventive care strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and support staff to deliver cohesive, patient-centered care.
- Monitor patient status continuously, report significant changes to the healthcare team, and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel within their competence and scope of practice.
### What we're looking for
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of an accredited vocational/technical nursing program.
- At least 1 year of experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation skills; EKG certification preferred.
- IV certification preferred; ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and NRP certifications also preferred.
- Proficient clinical and critical thinking skills with strong documentation habits in an EHR.
