About this role
A full-time Med-Surg RN (day shift) role at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Glenoaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois, supporting an inpatient medical-surgical unit on a 36-hour/week schedule (7:00 am–7:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays).
### What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments covering physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual factors and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and hospital protocols, monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, and self-care strategies to promote adherence and understanding.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical staff, and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Respond promptly to code situations, providing stabilizing interventions and supervising delegated care across the team.
### What we're looking for
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
- Current BLS/CPR certification (required).
- Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to revise care plans based on patient outcomes.
- EKG interpretation competency per unit requirements; fluency in English (verbal and written).
