About this role
A Senior Medical Physicist (Therapy) at AdventHealth Tampa supports the full scope of clinical radiation therapy physics for a faith-based regional health system in Tampa, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Perform dosimetric calculations for external beam, brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapy to ensure accurate treatment planning and delivery.
- Conduct quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulators, and other radiation therapy devices, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance checks.
- Administer the radiation safety program, including regulatory compliance, staff training, and oversight of radioactive source handling and disposal.
- Supervise medical physicist assistants and physics residents; provide clinical guidance and contribute to annual evaluations of dosimetrists and board-eligible physicists.
- Perform acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment; support development of new treatment modalities and information management systems.
- Participate in research and development activities, including support for clinical trials, and assist with physics coverage at other radiation oncology locations as needed.
### What we're looking for
- Master's degree in medical physics or a related field (required); doctorate preferred.
- Completion of a Medical Physics Therapy Residency Program OR 3+ years of clinical radiation therapy physics experience.
- American Board of Radiology Part 1 (required); Medical Physicist in Training (MPT) or Therapeutic Radiology Physicist (TRP) certification required; Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification (TMP-C) preferred.
- Proficiency in radiation oncology electronics, medical devices, and clinical treatment planning systems.
- Strong communication skills and advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and networking knowledge.
- Knowledge of brachytherapy preferred.
