About this role
A Student Nurse Tech (Night, Part-Time) role on the Medical-Surgical unit at AdventHealth Winter Garden in Winter Garden, Florida, supporting registered nurses in direct patient care delivery.
### What you'll do
- Assist in delivering patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, including vital signs, accuchecks, hemoccults, and blood glucose monitoring.
- Document and report all procedures accurately per department policy, including input and output (I&O) and dietary tray distribution.
- Participate in nursing history collection and evaluate age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, reporting abnormalities to the RN.
- Perform treatments appropriate to patient age, mobility, acuity, and culture, and respond appropriately in clinical emergencies.
- Remove peripheral IV catheters, empty Foley bags, JP drains, and hemovacs as indicated.
- Follow CDC isolation guidelines, apply PPE correctly, and enforce infection control and safety regulations.
### What we're looking for
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals, OR completion of an accredited nursing program within the past year without yet obtaining RN or LPN licensure.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (required).
- 1+ year of experience as a nursing assistant (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to provide age-specific care for geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric populations.
- Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and ability to remain calm in high-acuity situations.
