Practice Highlights
- Medical office setting within Baptist Medical Network, a multi-specialty physician organization serving 12 counties across South Texas
- Direct patient care responsibilities: vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation, visual acuity assessment, and chief complaint documentation
- Administers oral medications and performs intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections
- Performs venipuncture and both CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA-Waived laboratory testing
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians during medical treatments, exams, and procedures
- Coordinates specialized consultations, referral scheduling, and insurance pre-certification for ordered surgeries and diagnostic tests
- Supports front-desk operations including phone management, appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and referral processing
- Maintains exam room cleanliness, instrument sterilization and storage, and daily supply inventory in accordance with practice protocols
- Completes all clinical documentation in the patient medical record per practice charting policy
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR a current Medical Assistant certification, OR a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting
- CPR certification required
- Formal Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical tasks including injections, venipuncture, and point-of-care laboratory testing
