<p>A growing Cardiothoracic Surgery program in Dallas, Texas is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-autonomy, collaborative practice. The PA will work alongside four CT surgeons and three fellow APPs, delivering comprehensive adult cardiac care across the full continuum — from preoperative assessment and first-assisting in the OR through postoperative critical care and outpatient follow-up.</p>

<h3>Practice Highlights</h3> <ul> <li>Primarily supports one lead surgeon at the flagship Dallas hospital, backed by a strong APP team</li> <li>Balanced call schedule: 1:3 weekday and 1:4 weekend rotation</li> <li>Inpatient and outpatient role with exposure to ICU, step-down units, and surgical floors, as well as outpatient clinic follow-ups</li> <li>First-assist responsibilities in the OR, including Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH)</li> <li>Conducts comprehensive pre- and post-operative history and physical examinations</li> <li>Orders, interprets, and acts on diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and ECGs</li> <li>Develops and manages individualized treatment plans covering medication management, wound care, and complication prevention</li> <li>Performs procedures within scope and privileging: chest tube removal, central line removal, wound debridement, and aspirations</li> <li>Participates in daily surgical rounds, presenting patient updates and treatment recommendations</li> <li>Manages acute and chronic conditions; consults specialists as needed and responds to medical emergencies</li> <li>Collaborates with CT surgeons, intensivists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals</li> <li>Provides patient and family education on diagnosis, surgical procedures, discharge instructions, and follow-up care</li> <li>Maintains accurate, timely EMR documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements</li> <li>Participates in quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and continuing education</li> </ul>

<h3>Qualifications</h3> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program</li> <li>Current, unencumbered Physician Assistant license in Texas</li> <li>Board Certification as a Physician Assistant (PANNS)</li> <li>BLS and ACLS certification required</li> <li>DEA registration required</li> <li>Minimum 2–3 years of PA experience; prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, critical care, or a related surgical specialty highly preferred</li> <li>At least 3 years of Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH) experience required</li> <li>Demonstrated experience with pre- and post-operative management of complex surgical patients</li> <li>Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment</li> </ul>
