- Direct patient care responsibilities: vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation, visual acuity assessment, and chief complaint documentation
- Clinical procedures include oral medication administration, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections, venipuncture, and both CLIA-waived and non-CLIA-waived laboratory testing
- Physician assistance with medical treatments, exams, and procedures; equipment preparation and room stocking
- Complete medical record documentation in accordance with practice charting policy
- Coordination of specialized consultations, diagnostic testing appointments, and insurance pre-certification for ordered surgeries and tests
- Front-office support functions including phone management, appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and referral processing
- Compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and personal protective equipment protocols including exposure to blood-borne pathogens, chemical disinfectants, and radiation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR current Medical Assistant certification, OR a minimum of three years of relevant healthcare work experience in lieu of a diploma
- CPR certification required
- Formal Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical procedures including injections, venipuncture, and point-of-care laboratory testing
