Practice Highlights

- Responsibilities span patient tray assembly and delivery, retail food sales, and catering support
- Food preparation duties include chopping, slicing, and peeling; tray assembly follows patient population-specific dietary needs
- Transports food carts and delivers trays and snacks directly to patient units across the facility
- Dishwashing and sanitation responsibilities include hand and machine washing of pots, pans, and dishes, and operation and cleaning of dietary equipment
- Departmental upkeep includes sweeping, mopping, trash disposal, and stocking and cleaning nourishment rooms and refrigerators
- Operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities within the department
- Part of a health system that includes six full-service hospitals, a children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, fitness and rehabilitation centers, and the Baptist School of Health Professions
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and understand English (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Minimum one year of experience in a patient-feeding food service establishment (preferred)
- Active ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler certification, ANSI Accredited Food Manager course completion, or Certified Food Manager credential from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (required)
