- Medication administration responsibilities include oral medications, IM, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections
- Phlebotomy and lab testing: venipunctures, CLIA-waived and non-CLIA-waived point-of-care testing performed on-site
- Physician procedure support: equipment preparation and direct assistance during exams, treatments, and in-office procedures
- Referral coordination and pre-certification: arranges specialist consultations, diagnostic testing, and insurance pre-authorization for ordered procedures and surgeries
- Instrument sterilization, exam room stocking, and medical supply inventory management
- Front-desk collaboration: appointment scheduling, phone triage, and patient check-out support
- Documentation completed in the patient medical record in accordance with practice charting policy; HIPAA compliance required throughout
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR current Medical Assistant certification, OR a minimum of three years of relevant hands-on experience in a healthcare setting
- CPR certification required
- Formal Medical Assistant certification preferred (not required if experience or diploma criteria are met)
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and standard medical office procedures
- Compliance with all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, including protocols for bloodborne pathogen exposure
