Practice Highlights

  • Medical office setting within Baptist Medical Network — a multi-specialty physician group serving 12 counties across South Texas
  • Direct patient care responsibilities including vital signs, health history intake, medication reconciliation, visual acuity assessment, and chief complaint documentation
  • Administration of prescribed oral medications; intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; and venipuncture
  • CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA-Waived laboratory testing performed on-site
  • Preparation of equipment and direct assistance to physicians during medical treatments, exams, and procedures
  • Coordination of specialist referrals, diagnostic testing appointments, and insurance pre-certification for ordered surgeries and tests
  • Exam room maintenance including instrument cleaning, sterilization, storage, and daily supply stocking and inventory management
  • Front-desk support functions including phone management, appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and referral processing
  • Documentation completed in the patient medical record in accordance with practice charting policy
  • Compliance with HIPAA, PPE protocols, and infection control standards for exposure to blood, body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and radiation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR three years of relevant healthcare work experience in lieu of a diploma, OR a current Medical Assistant certification
  • CPR certification required
  • Formal Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred
  • Demonstrated comfort with clinical MA duties including injections, venipuncture, and point-of-care lab testing
