Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Arizona — a 200-bed acute care hospital and Level I Trauma Center in the rapidly growing West Valley — is recruiting an experienced Pharmacy Technician III to serve as a senior-level resource across all pharmacy distribution functions. This role carries meaningful responsibility: advanced sterile compounding including chemotherapy and TPN preparations, ADC management, quality assurance oversight, and hands-on mentorship of junior technicians, all under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a high-acuity, technology-forward environment.

Practice Highlights

  • Advanced sterile compounding responsibilities: IV admixture solutions, chemotherapy preparations, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) per USP 797 and USP 800 standards
  • Non-sterile compounding per USP 795 standards; prepackaging and labeling of oral medications and extemporaneous preparations
  • Automated dispensing cabinet (ADC) stocking, maintenance, and troubleshooting across patient care units
  • Emergency crash cart processing and documentation; controlled substance handling with variance reporting protocols
  • Monthly medication inspections and ongoing quality assurance log maintenance
  • Leadership role: trains and mentors new pharmacy technician staff; assists in development and implementation of performance improvement plans
  • Acts as an agent of the facility medical director for medication management activities at commonly owned and operated remote sites
  • Compliance with Joint Commission standards and applicable state and federal regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician license required; national Pharmacy Technician certification required
  • Minimum three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience, or demonstrated performance equivalent
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program preferred
  • Prior experience in sterile (IV) compounding, including chemotherapy preparation, strongly preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency required; strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills preferred
  • Ability to work in all areas of pharmacy services as assigned; comfort in a fast-paced, high-pressure acute care environment
