Practice Highlights
- Part-time, rotating schedule: weekday 8-hour shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.; weekend 10-hour shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Full clinical and dispensing scope: compounds, labels, and packages medications; monitors drug therapy; conducts Drug Utilization Reviews; prepares Drug Review criteria for medical staff approval
- Serves inpatient, outpatient, and employee pharmacy needs across the facility
- Acts as primary liaison between pharmacy, nursing, and medical staff on prescriptions, adverse drug reactions, patient reactions, errors, and complaints
- Monitors for contraindications, drug incompatibilities, allergies, and dosage errors; recommends alternate drug therapy when clinically appropriate
- Supervises pharmacy technicians and ancillary personnel; responsible for understanding all technician role requirements
- Prepares and delivers clinical in-services for nursing, medical staff, and pharmacy teams
- Ensures secure storage and compliance for narcotics and controlled substances; participates in QA review and regular medication inspection documentation
- Part of Desert Care Network — a three-hospital system serving the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin, with advanced service lines including Level 1 Trauma, comprehensive stroke care, oncology, and a Level 3 NICU
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; completion of a five-year program from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Completion of a pharmacy internship required
- Active California Pharmacist License and Registration required
- Ability to perform moderate physical effort: prolonged standing and walking; lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
