Practice Highlights

  • Bedside screening of self-pay patients across the hospital campus, including the Emergency Department, to identify eligibility for Federal, State, County, commercial, auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, TPL, and private insurance programs
  • Conducts in-person interviews with patients and family members to complete Confidential Financial Statement forms and guide benefit applications
  • Performs financial clearance functions including collections activity and account routing within the Patient Accounting environment
  • Manages follow-up on EES-assigned accounts to confirm government program applications are processed through to eligibility determination
  • Conducts field visits to patient homes for skip tracing and document assistance — some travel required
  • Communicates case screening determinations and outcomes to hospital case management, social services, and admissions staff via verbal and written channels
  • Maintains complete, accurate documentation of all account activity both during inpatient stay and throughout the Patient Accounting cycle
  • Works across both hospital and office environments in direct, ongoing contact with patients and multidisciplinary staff
  • Operates within a 30-year healthcare revenue cycle organization supporting financial and clinical performance improvement at the facility level

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in Social Services, Hospital Admitting, or a directly related field
  • Working familiarity with Federal, State, and County program rules and regulations governing patient financial assistance
  • Proficiency in PC systems including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts, facilities, and supervisory relationships simultaneously with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and navigate a hospital campus including bedside and Emergency Department environments
  • Must be able to obtain and provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to start of employment, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations as applicable and permitted by law
