Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas is hiring a full-time Patient Transporter to support safe, efficient movement of patients and visitors across a large, faith-based acute care system with more than 120 years of community service. The Baptist Health System encompasses six full-service hospitals, a specialized children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a comprehensive cancer care network, imaging centers, ambulatory services, and a school of health professions — giving team members broad exposure to a high-volume, multi-specialty environment. This is a hands-on, patient-facing support role central to daily hospital operations and care coordination.

Practice Highlights

  • Transport patients and visitors safely and in a timely manner to designated destinations throughout the hospital campus
  • Document all transport requests to maintain an accurate, real-time tracking system
  • Maintain wheelchairs, stretchers, and all transport equipment in clean, sanitary, and proper working condition — including routine maintenance such as oiling equipment wheels
  • Complete all established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period
  • Operate within a six-hospital system that also includes a children's hospital with a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, a cancer care network, fitness and rehabilitation centers, imaging centers, and ambulatory services

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience required
  • Prior patient transportation experience preferred
  • Active Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association accepted); AHA Healthcare Provider BLS must be obtained within 60 days of hire
  • No additional licensure or certification required beyond BLS
