Practice Highlights

  • 200-bed acute care hospital serving West Valley communities with a broad inpatient census and diverse medication management needs
  • Sterile compounding responsibilities include IV admixture preparation using aseptic technique in a Laminar Air Flow Hood
  • Medication order fulfillment from labels, including filling medication carts, drug replacement boxes, and automated dispensing units
  • Direct delivery of medications to patient care areas and routine retrieval of items returning to the pharmacy
  • Medication charge and credit input, patient drawer accuracy maintenance, and discharge medication processing via computer system
  • Drug prepackaging as demand requires, with complete and accurate prepackaging record preparation
  • Area inspections on assigned schedules with responsibility for identifying and correcting deficiencies
  • Participation in inventory control and wholesale ordering processes
  • Collaborative environment with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel; all work verified by a licensed Pharmacist
  • Facility features include the da Vinci Xi robotic surgical platform, Loop-X imaging system, Level I Trauma Center, and service lines in orthopedics, obstetrics, and cardiovascular care

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy program
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required; completion of a formal education program meeting certification requirements
  • Active licensure as a Pharmacy Intern issued by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems; ability to input medication charges, pull updates, and process orders accurately
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure hospital pharmacy environment
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; willingness to rotate through all areas of pharmacy services as assigned
