Practice Highlights
- Ambulatory physician office setting within Baptist Medical Network — a multi-specialty system serving 12 counties across South Texas
- Direct patient care responsibilities: vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation, visual acuity assessment, and chief complaint documentation
- Administers oral medications; performs intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; and conducts venipunctures
- Performs both CLIA-Waived and non-CLIA-Waived laboratory testing
- Assists physicians with medical treatments, exams, and procedures; prepares equipment and maintains exam room readiness
- Coordinates specialist referrals, diagnostic testing appointments, and insurance pre-certification for ordered surgeries and tests
- Supports front-desk operations including phone coverage, appointment scheduling, patient check-out, and referral processing
- Maintains clean, sterile, and stocked exam rooms in compliance with practice infection control and safety policies
- Completes all clinical documentation in the patient medical record per practice charting policy
- Operates within HIPAA compliance standards and adheres to established PPE protocols for bloodborne pathogen and chemical exposure protection
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program, OR a current Medical Assistant certification, OR a minimum of three years of relevant healthcare work experience in lieu of a diploma
- CPR certification required
- Formal Medical Assistant certification preferred (not required if experience or diploma pathway is met)
- Demonstrated ability to perform clinical tasks including injections, venipuncture, and point-of-care lab testing
