About the Community
Detroit is a city in confident resurgence — offering the cultural depth of a major metro at a cost of living well below the national average, a combination that is increasingly rare. Housing options range from renovated Midtown lofts and stately Grosse Pointe homes to spacious suburban properties in Birmingham and Rochester Hills. The culinary scene, anchored by James Beard-recognized restaurants in Corktown and the nation's largest historic open-air market at Eastern Market, rivals any coastal city, while all four major professional sports, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and a thriving live music culture rooted in the Motown legacy round out the lifestyle. Outdoor recreation is abundant year-round — the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle Park, and the broader Great Lakes region offer kayaking, cross-country skiing, and waterfront access — and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport provides nonstop service to virtually every major U.S. hub and select international destinations.
