About the Community

Detroit is one of the country's most compelling urban turnaround stories — a city offering major-metro amenities at a cost of living well below the national average, whether you are drawn to a renovated Midtown loft, a stately home in Grosse Pointe, or suburban acreage in Birmingham or Rochester Hills. The city supports all four major professional sports franchises, world-class cultural institutions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, a James Beard-caliber restaurant scene anchored in Corktown, and the Eastern Market — the largest historic open-air market in the United States. Outdoor recreation spans the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle Park, and the full breadth of the Great Lakes region, with Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport providing nonstop access to virtually every major domestic hub and select international destinations.
