About the Community

Detroit is one of the Midwest's most compelling relocation destinations — a city in confident reinvention, with a cost of living well below the national average and a quality of life that rivals far more expensive metros. Physicians can choose from renovated urban living in Midtown, historic elegance in Grosse Pointe, or spacious suburban homes in Birmingham and Rochester Hills, all at prices that stretch a physician's salary considerably further than coastal markets. The city offers all four major professional sports franchises, the Detroit Institute of Arts, a James Beard-caliber restaurant scene anchored in Corktown, and the Eastern Market — the largest historic open-air market in the country. Outdoor recreation is abundant year-round through the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle Park, and the broader Great Lakes region, while Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport provides nonstop access to virtually every major U.S. hub and select international destinations.
