About this role
A Consumer Access Specialist (ED, 2nd Shift) at AdventHealth registers and financially clears patients presenting to the Emergency Department at the Hendersonville, North Carolina campus.
### What you'll do
- Register patients for all ED services, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information to minimize duplicate medical records.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management on coverage issues.
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as required.
- Generate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans at point of service.
- Perform cashiering functions including cash collections and end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Manage communication across clinical, ancillary, and consumer access departments to support a smooth patient experience.
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- 1+ year of customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred.
- Basic-to-intermediate medical terminology and working knowledge of insurance benefits.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office.
- Adherence to CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; CHAA or CRCR certification a plus.
