About this role
AdventHealth Wauchula is hiring a full-time Consumer Access Specialist to manage patient registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling at its hospital campus in Wauchula, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Register patients for all services, ensuring demographic accuracy and minimizing duplicate medical records
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management on coverage issues
- Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as required
- Generate accurate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans
- Handle cashiering functions including collections and cash reconciliation
- Provide PBX/switchboard coverage and serve as a communication liaison between clinical, ancillary, and consumer access departments
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 1+ year of customer service, healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Basic to intermediate medical terminology and working knowledge of insurance benefits
- Familiarity with EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
- CHAA or CRCR certification preferred; adherence to CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA guidelines required
