About this role
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) joins UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks on the inpatient unit at 701 Winthrop Ave, Glendale Heights, Illinois, working full-time night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays.
### What you'll do
- Perform bedside treatments and direct patient care appropriate to patient age, mobility, acuity, and cultural background under the direction of a registered nurse
- Assist in obtaining nursing histories and report abnormalities or changes in patient condition to the RN
- Follow isolation protocols, apply appropriate personal protective equipment, and enforce unit safety regulations
- Document and report all procedures in accordance with department policy
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff throughout the shift
- Respond appropriately in clinical emergencies and participate in performance improvement activities
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of applicable PCT experience, including bedside care in an acute care setting, unit secretary, or monitor technician role
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following credentials: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
