About this role
A Patient Care Technician joins the Medical-Surgical unit at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Glenoaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois, supporting bedside care under registered nurse direction on a 36-hour-per-week day shift.
### What you'll do
- Perform treatments per policy, delivering age- and acuity-appropriate patient care across the medical-surgical unit
- Assist the registered nurse team in direct bedside care, including obtaining nursing histories and reporting abnormalities
- Document all procedures and interventions in accordance with department policy
- Respond appropriately during clinical emergencies and follow prescribed isolation and infection-control protocols
- Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff, including proper use of PPE and hand hygiene
- Participate in performance improvement activities and support quality standards and initiatives
### What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 1 year of applicable PCT experience, including previous bedside care in an acute care setting, unit secretary role, or equivalent
- Active BLS/CPR certification (required)
- One of the following credentials: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), or EMT certification
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and skill development

- Pay range: $17.17–$27.46/hour ($35,714–$57,117 annualized)
