About this role

A Pulmonary Function Technician role at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, located at AdventHealth GlenOaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois. ### What you'll do - Perform a full range of pulmonary diagnostic tests including spirometry, DLCO, lung volumes, body plethysmography, airways resistance, respiratory muscle forces, and portable spirometry. - Conduct metabolic measurements and complete exercise testing, including indirect calorimetry, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and 6-minute walks. - Operate, calibrate, and maintain pulmonary testing equipment such as Collins PF/Plethysmography systems, bronchial provocation dosimeter, metabolic cart, treadmill, and bike ergometer. - Maintain daily and monthly blood gas laboratory compliance, including proficiency testing, linearity testing, correlation studies, and critical value reporting. - Administer breathing and oxygen procedures including nebulizer treatments and prescribed medications, and monitor patients throughout treatment. - Document all testing, physician interpretations, and technical billing in Athena and Powerchart; provide blood gas competency training for new respiratory clinical staff. ### What we're looking for - State or NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential — required. - State or NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — required. - Current BLS and ACLS certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire). - Proficiency in arterial blood gas puncture and analysis, hemodynamic monitoring, and arterial cannulation. - Ability to independently coach patients through diagnostic pulmonary function testing maneuvers and assess performance quality. - Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) designation — preferred. ### What's included - Pay range: $28.21–$52.47/hour (~$58,677–$109,138 annualized). - Medical, dental, and vision insurance effective Day One. - Paid time off from Day One and 4 weeks of 100% paid parental leave. - 403(b) retirement plan. - Mental health resources, whole-person well-being programs, and pet benefits. ### About the practice UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is a faith-based health system serving the western Chicago suburbs, with AdventHealth GlenOaks functioning as a full-service community hospital.
