Laboratory Assistant I

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is hiring a part-time Laboratory Assistant I to support clinical laboratory operations at its hospital campus in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. ### What you'll do - Perform cytopreparatory staining and accession surgical cases with working knowledge of anatomy - Receive, prepare, and set up primary specimen cultures; inoculate petri dishes for bacterial growth - Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and work spaces; maintain inventory control and supply stocking - Participate in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluation of new equipment and procedures - Resolve customer service issues within established guidelines and support education for clinical staff ### What we're looking for - High school diploma or equivalent required - Technical aptitude for laboratory procedures and processes relevant to the assigned department - Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, verbally and in writing - Competency in reading, measuring, reasoning, and problem-solving under supervision - Ability to safely handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals, and irritants - Proficiency with computer applications and electronic data entry ### What's included - Pay range: $16.26–$26.02/hour (~$33,821–$54,122 annualized) - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance from day one - Paid time off from day one - 403(b) retirement plan - Four weeks of 100% paid parental leave - Mental health resources and whole-person well-being support ### About the practice AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a full-service hospital located in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, part of the AdventHealth system.
