About this role
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is hiring a PRN Medical Lab Scientist II specializing in Microbiology at its 301 Memorial Medical Pkwy facility in Daytona Beach, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Perform pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, function checks, specimen collection, and biological specimen processing.
- Execute laboratory tests and analytical procedures accurately per established standard operating procedures.
- Conduct post-analytical activities including result reporting and technical support to clinical staff.
- Participate in proficiency testing in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Precept and train new employees and students, documenting orientation activities appropriately.
- Support laboratory and hospital performance improvement initiatives and assist with evaluation of new techniques and procedures.
### What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution (or qualifying equivalency).
- MLS(ASCP) or MLS(AMT) certification (formerly MT(ASCP)/MT(AMT)) or equivalent credential.
- 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in microbiology laboratory testing, specimen processing, and quality assessment activities.
- Ability to work independently, manage workflow, and adapt to shifting priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
### What's included
- Pay range: $26.08–$48.50/hr (PRN rate; annualized approximately $54,246–$100,880 at full-time equivalent hours).
