About this role

A Registration Specialist role at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth serving patients at the Hinsdale, Illinois campus on a 36-hour/week evening shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) with rotating weekends and holidays. ### What you'll do - Register patients for all hospital services, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information to minimize duplicate medical records - Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, and coordinate with utilization management staff on coverage issues - Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage (ABNs) as required - Generate patient financial responsibility estimates, collect payments, and establish payment plans at point of service - Document all patient and payer conversations — including coverage decisions and payment arrangements — in the EMR - Provide PBX/switchboard coverage and perform cashiering functions including collections and cash reconciliation ### What we're looking for - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred - 1+ year of customer service, relevant healthcare, or revenue cycle experience preferred - Working knowledge of insurance benefits, medical terminology, and hospital EMR systems - Familiarity with CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA compliance requirements - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred - CHAA or CRCR certification preferred ### What's included - Compensation: $17.99–$28.78/hour ($37,419–$59,862 annualized) - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One - Paid time off from Day One - 403(b) retirement plan - Four weeks of 100% paid parental leave - Career development resources and whole-person well-being support ### About the practice UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is a faith-based health system operating on the campus at 120 N.
