A Medication Access Coordinator at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth supports specialty pharmacy operations and patient medication access at AdventHealth Bolingbrook in Bolingbrook, Illinois.
### What you'll do
- Complete prior authorization forms, negotiate approval status with insurers, and track prescription status for high-cost medications
- Enroll patients in patient assistance programs and collaborate with social services and case management to prevent therapy interruptions
- Assist pharmacists with letters of medical necessity and peer-to-peer conference coordination
- Document and triage patient therapy problems to the appropriate pharmacist and coordinate prescription filling, packaging, and delivery
- Conduct patient insurance, benefits, and financial verification through direct patient communication
- Support staff training programs for specialty pharmacy technicians and assist with policy and procedure development for high-cost medication reimbursement
### What we're looking for
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) and Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credentials required
- 5+ years of ambulatory or specialty pharmacy experience required
- Working knowledge of pharmacy benefit plans, secondary insurance, and copay assistance programs
- Ability to interpret prescriptions, apply medical terminology, and perform pharmaceutical calculations
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
