About this role
AdventHealth Apopka is hiring a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist (Nights) at its hospital in Apopka, Florida, to oversee quality assurance, technical operations, and staff development in the clinical laboratory on a Wednesday–Friday night schedule.
### What you'll do
- Lead quality control and quality assurance testing, including instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and inventory control across assigned laboratory sections
- Orient, train, and precept new employees and medical technology students, documenting all training and competency evaluations
- Perform and interpret complex analytical procedures efficiently and accurately, reporting highly abnormal results per established protocols
- Manage scheduling, workflow direction, and provide input on staff performance evaluations
- Execute pre- and post-analytical activities including specimen collection, biological processing, equipment function checks, and results reporting for all age groups
- Support laboratory and hospital performance improvement initiatives and assist management with special projects
### What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, chemistry, biology, or an equivalent combination of science coursework meeting CLIA requirements
- Florida Department of Health Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure
- 2+ years of technical laboratory experience
- Completion of a ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited clinical laboratory training program (or qualifying equivalent)
- Ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and direct workflow with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems for documentation and record-keeping

- Hourly pay range: $28.68–$53.35 (~$59,654–$110,968 annualized)
