About this role
AdventHealth Manchester seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist – First Assistant to join its surgical services team in Manchester, Kentucky.
### What you'll do
- Set up and maintain operating suites using surgeon preference cards, selecting appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Provide intraoperative first-assistant support including tissue retraction, sponging, suction, irrigation, and hemostasis.
- Assist with body plane closures, wound dressing applications, and securing drainage systems.
- Perform instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator and participate in surgical time-out verification.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and monitor the surgical team for breaks in sterile field integrity.
- Measure and pass medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions per safe medication-handling policy.
### What we're looking for
- Active certification as a Surgical Assistant or First Assistant (SA-C, CSA, CSFA, AS-C, or State CSA) — one required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage surgical instrumentation throughout procedures.
- Strong knowledge of asepsis, surgical anatomy, and operative techniques.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred; CSFA or NBSTSA CST preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant surgical technology or first-assistant experience preferred.
