About this role
AdventHealth Port Charlotte is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technologist III (PRN, nights) at its Port Charlotte, Florida hospital campus.
### What you'll do
- Perform pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, function checks, inventory control, specimen collection, and biological specimen processing
- Execute laboratory tests and analytical procedures accurately in accordance with established standard operating procedures
- Conduct post-analytical activities such as result reporting and technical support across all patient age groups
- Participate in proficiency testing while adhering to federal, state, and institutional regulatory requirements
- Serve as a preceptor to orient and train new employees and students, with appropriate documentation
- Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, and toxic chemicals safely and in compliance with applicable regulations
### What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or equivalent coursework meeting CLIA requirements
- 5+ years of technical laboratory experience
- 2+ years of AdventHealth-specific experience
- Ability to work independently, adapt to shifting priorities, and direct workflow with minimal supervision
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and analytical and mathematical skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques including DNA/RNA extractions and molecular assays preferred
### What's included
- Pay range: $26.08–$48.50/hr ($54,246–$100,880 annualized)
- PRN/per-diem scheduling with night shift availability
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
