Certified Surgical Technician

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a full-time Certified Surgical Technician at AdventHealth Glenoaks in Glendale Heights, Illinois. ### What you'll do - Anticipate surgeon needs, assemble required instruments, supplies, and medications prior to each procedure, and keep the circulating nurse informed throughout. - Monitor aseptic technique for the entire surgical team and take immediate corrective action for any breaks in sterile field. - Direct ancillary personnel during OR turnover to support safe and efficient room-ready times. - Supervise and assist with orientation, training, and education of new surgical personnel. - Promote patient and staff safety, respond appropriately in emergencies, and adhere to CDC isolation guidelines and infection control policies. - Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support departmental quality standards. ### What we're looking for - Active CST credential (State, NBSTSA, or NCCT TS-C) — required. - Current BLS/CPR certification — required. - High school diploma or equivalent — required; associate degree or surgical technology program completion preferred. - 1+ years of relevant surgical tech experience preferred; 2+ years preferred for full proficiency. - Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and fundamental human anatomy. - Strong anticipatory skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret surgeon-dictated instructions in real time. ### What's included - Hourly pay range: $22.68–$43.37 (approximately $47,174–$90,210 annualized). - Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance effective Day One. - Paid time off beginning Day One. - 403(b) retirement plan. - Four weeks of fully paid parental leave. - Whole-person well-being and mental health support resources. ### About the practice UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is a faith-based health system serving the Chicago metropolitan area, integrating clinical excellence with whole-person care across body, mind, and spirit. The Glenoaks campus at 701 Winthrop Ave, Glendale Heights operates a full surgical suite with a Monday–Friday day-shift schedule (7:00 am–3:30 pm) and a rotating call requirement of every fifth weekend plus one to two weekday calls per week.
