A Patient Access Specialist I at AdventHealth East Orlando registers patients, verifies insurance eligibility, and supports front-end revenue cycle operations at a large faith-based health system in Orlando, Florida.
### What you'll do
- Register patients for services, verify demographic and insurance information, and ensure armband accuracy and required form completion
- Perform cashiering functions including daily batching, cash reconciliation, and upfront collections to meet established financial goals
- Validate authorizations and pre-certifications using online eligibility tools to prevent claim rejections or denials
- Create accurate good faith estimates and document collection activity per compliance requirements
- Monitor patient tracking boards to proactively identify patients requiring registration and facilitate timely discharge
- Review collection reports as assigned and work patient accounts regarding insurance identification and selection
### What we're looking for
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience (required); prior collections experience preferred
- Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and electronic health record systems, including Cerner
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and ability to decipher insurance benefit information
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Associate degree in Health Services Administration or related field preferred; Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) credential preferred
